We never see your bank password. Kharchapatra works on statements you export yourself — no Open Banking, no screen-scraping. Uploads are encrypted in transit and only the parsed transactions are kept.
Statements from the institutions you actually use
Don't see yours? Any bank that exports CSV, PDF, or Excel works — Kharchapatra auto-detects columns or lets you map them manually.
Everything you actually need. Nothing you don't.
Most expense apps are built for Western banks with neat APIs. Kharchapatra starts from a simpler reality: you have a bank statement PDF, a wallet export, and the ten minutes you actually have.

Is Kharchapatra free?
Yes — Kharchapatra is free during the public beta. Account creation, statement imports, budgets, goals, and the BS calendar all work without a card. Pricing for advanced features will be announced before anything stops being free, and personal use of the core tracker is intended to remain free.
Which Nepali banks and wallets does Kharchapatra support?
You can import statements from any Nepali commercial bank that lets you export CSV, PDF, or Excel — that includes NIC Asia, Nabil, Global IME, Standard Chartered, NMB, Himalayan, Prabhu, Siddhartha, and most others. eSewa, Khalti, and IME Pay statements (Excel/CSV) are auto-detected. Manual entry works for cash, hundi, or any account that doesn't issue statements.
Is my bank data safe with Kharchapatra?
We never see your bank password or login credentials. Kharchapatra works on statements you export yourself — there's no Open Banking connection or screen-scraping involved. Uploaded statements are encrypted in transit, stored on Nepal-region infrastructure where possible, and only the parsed transactions (not the original PDF) are kept long-term unless you ask otherwise.
Does Kharchapatra support Bikram Sambat dates?
Yes, BS is a first-class citizen, not a setting buried in preferences. Every transaction shows both BS and AD dates, you can filter by Nepali fiscal year (Shrawan to Asar), set goals to land on Dashain or Tihar, and see your tax estimates against the current FY's slabs.
Can I use Kharchapatra on phone and web?
Yes. There is an Android app and a web dashboard, and they sync the same account in real time. Capture a transaction on the go from your phone, review trends and run analytics on your laptop. Sync is conflict-aware so edits from either device merge cleanly.
How long does it take to get started?
About five minutes. Create an account, add your bank and wallet accounts (pick from a preset list of Nepali institutions or add custom ones), set opening balances, and drop in last month's statement. Auto-categorisation handles the bulk of tagging — you only need to override the ones it gets wrong.
Ready to actually understand your spending?
Free during beta. No card. Five minutes to set up — your first statement import takes care of last month.
